80s Theme Party
Ahhh...the 80s Theme Party. You either love them or hate them. I love them! From the bands to the fashions, the music, Hollywood and more. For any 80s theme party, you need the right music. The big names, of course, are Sting, U2, Madonna, Prince, Cuture Club, Duran Duran...anyways I could go on forever, you get the idea.If you have any of these bands on LP and you have a record player, why not break it out.Next, we need to talk about the hair! BIG is in, the bigger the better. Remember the cans of hairspray and gel you would use to stack it as high as possible? Big belts are a necessary accessory, as are leg warmers, bangles, and moon boots. For effect you could have movies playing in the background, think "FootLoose", "St Elmos Fire", and "Purple Rain". If you need Cocktail Ideas try these: (remember "Cocktail, starring Tom Cruise?)
Shaken Martinis 2oz Vodkadash of vermoutholives Pour the Vodka and Vermouth into a shaker over ice, and then SHAKE! Pour into chilled Martini glasses and garnish with an olive. Caesar This was my favorite Sunday Morning Brunch cocktail throughout the eighties and into today. Created in Calgary, Canada this Canadian specialty has taken the world by storm. It is similar to a Bloody Mary but "Clamato" juice replaces the tomato juice. Clamato is exactly what you are thinking, a mixture of Tomato and Clam juice, sounds gross but is actually quite delicious. It can be mixed with beer as well. GREAT FOR HANGOVERS!! 1-2oz VodkaClamato JuiceCelery SaltWorcestershire SauceTabasco SauceFresh Ground Black Pepperlime wedgeCelery Stalk Use the lime wedge to rim the glass so the celery salt will stick to it. Dip glass edge in celery salt. Add ice, vodka and clamato juice. Start with a dash or two of the Worcestershire and Tabasco sauces and adjust accordingly. Stir well. Garnish with the lime, a celery stalk and fresh ground pepper. There you have it...the Ultimate HANGOVER CURE, or a great way to start your next 80s Theme Party!, and it tastes good.
